This is the first year that we are using Lucy Calkin's Writing Workshop approach at Garvy and it has been an overwhelming success in Kindergarten. We had our first Writing Celebration this week. Parents, relatives, brothers, sisters, and friends were all invited to come and listen as we shared our writing. Each child was given time to read their writing aloud and explain their ideas and the process they used to create their stories. I am so proud of all the students writing and look forward as they continue to develop throughout the remainder of the year. Oh and the milk and cookies were a hit too!
