Thanksgiving Pie Tasting

Mmmmm. Thank you parents for sending in pies for our celebration! Nineteen of the children chose pumpkin pie as their favorite. Blueberry, apple and "no thank you" all tied with 5 students. I was very proud of everyone for trying new kinds of food!

Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm

We had a great day at the pumpkin farm. A little mud wasn't slowing any of us down! The kids saw all kinds of animals that live on the farm, some exotic ones too. Everyone was so extatic to ride on a big yellow bus, as we pulled away from Garvy I heard from several students, "This is the best field trip EVER!" Thank you parents for sending lunches and funds to make this field trip a memorable success.

Fire Safety

Firefighter Sam came to our kindergarten and taught us about being safe and preventing fires. He reminded us to change the batteries in our smoke detectors. He also showed us his gear and let us try it on. We learned the phrase, "stay low and go." We will use this if we have to escape a burning building. Firefighter Sam warned us to stay away from matches, stoves, candles, and lighters.

Meet and Greet

Hello new kinderfamilies! Welcome to your first school year at Garvy school with Ms. Bachman. Did you get the letter I sent you? I'd really like to meet you all this Friday September 4th. If your last name begins with letters A-M please come between 1:00 and 1:30. Last names beginning with letters N-Z can then come between 1:30 and 2:00. During this time you'll have a chance to see our classroom, meet new friends, and drop off your school supplies. You can also think of a question your like to ask me and bring it along! As a friendly reminder parents, supplies do not need to be labeled with your child's name because everything is going to be communal. See you soon!

Kohl Children's Museum

In March our class visited and had a great time at Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview. While there we learned about water and had a hands on experience moving water with tubes, turkey basters, eye droppers, making artwork and we also explored the water room in the museum. It was a wonderful day! Thank you again to all the parents who volunteered to chaperon and the museum staff for making our experience so enjoyable. I hope you enjoy the pictures that were graciously taken by a photographer of the museum.
